First free morning in Quito
We had arranged to start our Spainsh lessons at 1pm so only had the morning free. We decided that we would head off walking to the New part of the town. Walking is a great way to see a new city but also a bit unnerving at times as you do not really know which are good and bad areas. We had been told that Quito is safe but take care to keep possessions safe and do not walk at night. I decide to take my small back pack which I immediately regretted as I felt nervous walking in the streets with it on my back.
We walked through the old city and reached a cross roads which was not a good area however we headed on our chosen route to the New city and soon found ourselves is a slightly better area. We had agreed not to look at maps on the street but go get a coffee if we wanted to discuss plans. We spotted a nice looking bakery Panificadora Ambato which by the end of the day was our favourite bakery as we also grabbed a quick lunch there.
Our walk turned into a 10km exploring walk. we discovered a great modern shopping mall and lovely park Caroline with a Botanical gardens we noted to come back to. In the centre of the park was a great running track and many sports facilities on the sides.
We jumped in a taxi back to our Spanish school and started our first lesson at 1pm. We had to start at the very beginning Alfabeto and learn how to pronounce all the letters. We moved onto numbers, times, male v female words and singular and plural.
Wear your rucksack on the front next time.
Enjoying your blog very much
