This is a big one – what does it cost to travel like us
This was a special trip for our honeymoon, we travelled for 3 months and stayed at reasonable quality places most of the time. The total cost was in the the region of £32,000 for the 2 of us for everything.
We booked the “big ticket” items in advance;
- Main Flights – £3780, this including UK to Equador via Miami and Rio to UK via New York. Our friendly travel agent Carly from flight centre, advised us that by including the hotel in New York it made this a package deal and thus she was able to give us discount that gave us the hotel for free.
- Galapogos cruise = £5430
- Australis cruise = £5000
Accommodation
- Hotels, the majority booked via hotel.com so that we save point to get free rooms later. Total = £5855, ranging from £17 (shit hostel) to £220 (Miami)
- Apartments via AirbnB – £1090

- Flights excluding main flights = £3244
