Day 1 – 30/09/2018 – We are off

30th Sept 2018 – Day 1 – off we go

So the day has finally arrived.  Bags packed (more about that in the packing post) and it really is time to go.

First journey, train to London Heathrow for an overnight stop before flying to Miami on Monday.  We got to the station nice and early to collect tickets, it took a little while to remember which credit card we has used to purchase the tickets.

On board London bound train we opened our first of no doubt many small bottle of Cava to drink to our adventure.

On arrival in St Pancras we had plenty of time so decided to have lunch at Carluccios at the station.  St Pancras is my opinion is the best stations in the UK and probably better than most worldwide.  The ambiance of travellers both loval and going to the Eurostar make it a destination in its own right and the beautiful refurbished hotel is a great place to stay or just meet friends to eat or drink.

After a great lunch we headed to Heathrow on the underground and went to Park Inn by Radison.  The hotel we found at heathrow was great value at £50 room only.   The room was spacious and clean.   We were able to enjoy a swim in the pool before a small dinner in the bar.

Final check on baggage and plastic bags we set our alarms for 6am to get the shuttle bus to heathrow.
