First flight of many today – Heathrow to Miami
A quick exit from the hotel at 6.30 got us on a shuttle bus to Heathrow. Check-in and security were relatively quick and both simple. By 8am we were sitting enjoying a champagne breakfast in terminal 3 Oriel Restaurant. Our American Airline flight to Miami was just over 9 hours which passed very quickly and smoothly. We were very pleased with the seats, food and in flight entertainment. We had our own personal screens with a choice of 100s of films. The flight was quiet and everyone remained seated except for short bathroom stops, it was very different to those Tel-Aviv flights I take regularly 🙂
Clearing immigration in Miami was efficient but time consuming due to the number of people arriving simultaneously. Our luggage was happily waiting when we got through and a short taxi drive took us to our destination, Delano Hotel Miami Beach. Our initial room allocation on the 14th floor was beautiful but the twin beds were a disappointment for a honeymoon. A quick call to reception gave us a move to the next door room with a double bed.
Finally Mid afternoon in Miami we went off to explore the area. The hotel was right on the beach which was beautiful yellow sand. We walked along the promenade and past some of the Art-Deco buildings. We had no idea of the extent of the Art Deco theme in Miami beach which was a pleasant surprise as we are both fans.
At about 5pm American time, 11pm UK time, Ingrid’s hanger (hunger mixed Anger coz I must eat) started and after a few false starts we opted for a local restaurant Maxine’s for an early evening meal. Follewed by a short walk to totally tire us out by 9pm American time we in bed and soon asleep.
Welcome to Miami!
