Vancouver here we come

And away we go.

Our flight departed a little late due the security incident at the airport that delayed some of the crew getting to the plane.  Our Air -transat fight was a comfortable 8.5hrs during which we settled in our seats and watched endless film.  The food was the normal airline quality with a choice of chicken or pasta in tomato sauce,  I had pre-ordered vegetarian and got a curry and rice with revolting bread.   To keep their costs down they offer free non-alcoholic drinks but it you order a coke you get half a can.

Having left UK at 11am, after an 8.5hr flight we landed at 1.30pm local time.   Immigration was fairly smooth and luggage arrived reasonably quickly.

We had pre-booked a hire car so headed off to the collection point and then followed google maps to our AirBnB near the University.   The weather was rainy which was not an easy was to get used to driving a car abroad in a strange place.  The apartment we had booked was the lower part of someone house and was reminiscent of Edna’s in Brazil.   It had a kitchen, with a separate lounge and bedroom with the most enormous bed you have ever seen.

One feature of the apartment, the garden was not really visible in the rain but when we woke the next day we were able to see it and enjoy the lovely Japanese garden.

After a short while relaxing we contacted Hannah and headed over to the university.  We knew where she was by looking her up on find my friends but made the mistake of noe asking her for her exact address.  When we got to the university we could not connect to wifi / mobile data and spent a bit of time trying to contact her.   Finally we made contact and she showed us round her apartment.

We were a bit tired and disorientated with the time change but headed out for a meal to a lovely Indian restaurant East of East.   They did have an option of a fabulous buffet but we opted for something more simple given our tiredness.  The rain was still in full force making it a little unpleasant to really appreciate the area.

We returned Hannah to her dorms by 8pm and settled in for a nights sleep.
