You may have noticed that the Blogs have slowed down recently this is due to a lack of spare time to sit and write and a need to plan the next month in any time we have free.
We had a great plan that took us to end of October and also have a plan from mid December bur nothing definite planned for November. This was partly because we were unsure what to do and also some of the activities we were considering were difficult to arrange. We were looking at going to Bolivia and the Salt Flats but the more investigation we have done the more unsure we are if the journey/planning will be too difficult and the actual experience there may be hard for us to endure, temperature go to -20 at night. We are looking at alternatives and will update when we finalize.
Our first mishap was on Macchu Picchu in the pouring rain, we got soaked but still managed to take some great photos. Sadly Barrie’s compact camera did not like the rain and has since stopped working. We are hoping it will dry out and work again but so far no luck.
Meanwhile the altitude sickness is getting to us a bit everything is twice as hard to do at this altitude and carry bags around is very tiring for us. On the last morning in Cussco we had a 10 hr journey on a bus to make from Cussco to Puno and I woke with an upset stomach which was not good for a long journey, fortunately Imodium came to the rescue but did not stop me feeling bad all day and honestly this has continued on and off until today making it difficult to concentrate on writing.
In Puno we had a fantastic hotel room we were upgraded to a suite but on the 2nd morning Barrie could not find his phone and we have no recollection if he left it in the room or took it out with him the previous evening. After a frantic morning searching the room we had to admit defeat and declare it lost. This then meant reporting to various people and changing bank setting that had been accessed via Barrie’s phone. It all took time and was a bit stressful but at the end of the day we have 2 other phones with us and insurance.
Anyway – all is good now I am sitting looking at the lake with the sun shining writing this and will now try and update more blog articles.
